Yesterday you might have noticed that I combined one of  my biggest time offenders television documentaries with my crafting. Crafting is a task that brings me joy but also saves my family money as homemade gifts are always less expensive and often I sell a few to pay for the supplies of those I give.

I love doing this. I call it combining joy. I get several things I love done at once and have a blast doing it.

For instance, I knit while my husband drives on our road trips.

I bring a book on a topic I am trying to learn more about  to  the amusement park to read as my children ride because rides make me….well, lets not discus it.

I meet friends for Starbucks and bring along my button headband supplies, or locker hooking.

I sign up with friends to do  crazy theme races in the city, and afterwards we shop the clearance racks together.

It is more about living the moment to its fullest than it is about multitasking.

Here is a few more ideas for you.

1. Need to get the Christmas baking done? Invite a few friends over, share the cost of supplies and bake and chat the night away.

2. Want to repaint your house? Buy the paint, a few extra rollers and trays, some soda and snacks and invite a few friends over to help.

3. Have you always wanted to send out homemade Christmas cards? Set a date, tell your friends to bring over their supplies, and a snack. Spend the evening crafting, sharing supplies, swapping ideas and eating each others goodies.

Now you try. How could you combine joy and save time in your life?

I combined listen to music and while I am preparing my freezer meals. Makes the process go so much faster and makes it more enjoyable. I also love having a freezer with meals ready to pull out and heat up.

I also combined watching tv with things I don’t like to do like fold the laundry. Although this week my 16 year old surprised me by folding the laundry for me and I didn’t even have to ask her.
