Most people know of the cash back site Rakuten (formally called Ebates), but few seem to know about Mr. Rebates–and I think that needs to change. Mr. Rebates offers several ways for its members to sweeten their online bargains and it offers cash back at stores other cash back sites don’t.
How To Sweeten A Bargain Using Mr. Rebates

If you are frugal, you probably wait until the item you want to buy goes on sale before purchasing it. However, if you are a thrifty ninja, you are going to stack as many discounts on top of that sale as possible. That is how Mr. Rebates comes in to sweeten your bargain.
A Step By Step Guide On How To Use Mr. Rebates
1. Sign Up
Go here and create a Mr. Rebates account (a $5 bonus will be credited to your account after your first qualifying purchase).
2. Download These
Download the browser extension if you tend to shop via your laptop and the app if you tend to shop via your smartphone.
The browser tool makes using Mr. Rebates so simple. Every time you are on a website that Mr. Rebates has either a current coupon or a cash back for, a box will pop up in the corner of your screen alerting you to the discount–click on it to apply the coupons or activate the cash back.
If you prefer to shop from your smartphone, make sure to open up the Mr. Rebates app to see if they offer a cash back at the store you want to shop at before you start shopping.
3. Next Time You Are About To Shop Online, Do This
Depending on how you are shopping, you will need to do one of three things to earn cash back from Mr. Rebates.
- If you didn’t download the app or the browser tool, you will need to head over to the Mr. Rebates website and enter the store you wish to shop at into the search bar and follow the links to the website you want to shop at.
- If you are using the browser tool on your laptop or desktop computer, you will need to look out for the Mr. Rebate notification box that should pop up in the corner of your screen and click on it to activate the cash back or coupon code.
- If you are using your smartphone to shop, open up the Mr. Rebates app, search for the store you wish to shop at and click on the link to shop there–if it is offered.
4. Wait For Your Cash Back
It can take up to 30 days for cash back to be posted, but the average waiting time is 2 to 3 business days.
5. Cash Out
Once your account reaches $10, you are eligible for a cash out. If you are making smaller purchases, it can take a while to earn ten dollars in cash back but when you sign-up using my referral code, you receive a $5 bonus after making your first qualifying purchase (offer could change at any time), which means you will be more than halfway to your first $10 cash out after using Mr. Rebates just one time!
You can cash out for a check, PayPal deposit, or a gift card.
How To Increase Your Cash Back Earnings
If you want to increase your chances of earning cash back on almost every purchase you make, then you need to join more than just one cash back site. I belong to numerous cash back sites and have several different chrome extensions from various cash back sites so that I can not only increase my chances of being able to get cash back, but so I can also grab the highest cash back available.
Cash Back Sites Worth Joining
I have earned money and cashed out successfully at all the following cash back sites.

Point Programs That Offer Cash Back
These companies below are not exclusively cash back sites, but instead offer cash back as one of multiple ways to earn with their website.

And one last company that deserves mentioning is Honey, it does offer cash back, but I use it mainly for the promo codes, which often (but not always) can be stacked with cash back deals. What I do is first check Honey for a promo code, then once it is entered, I click the chrome extension for the cash back company offering the highest cash back amount for that store to activate it. Since Honey often offers me a promo code that will save me more money than the cash back offer will, even if I am not able to stack the promo code with the cash back, I am still coming out ahead.
I hope these tips help you increase your thrifty ninja skills! Don’t forget to hop over to Mr. Rebates and open up an account and start saving money.
