Honey Has Saved Me Almost $70 In Just 3 Months: Here Is How

I signed up for a Honey account a few months ago. I didn’t think it would save me more than a dollar or two per online order–boy was I wrong.
Since I signed up and downloaded the browser extension tool, I have saved an average of $10 on my online orders from stores it works at and one time it gave me a promotion code that took $20 off my order. In just three months, Honey has saved me $70, and I don’t even shop online all that much.
What Is Honey?
Honey is a browser extension tool that will apply promo codes to your orders at various sites. For instance, I have saved $10 on orders through ThredUP and Boxed multiple times.
The beautiful part about Honey is that when you use their promo section, you get the money directly off your order, you don’t have to wait for it to be deposited into your Honey account and then cash it in for gift cards. However, they do have a cash back area you can use if you want to, although the cash back area gives you honey points and you need to collect a thousand of those points to cash out for a gift card. I don’t use this area as I prefer to use MyPoints, Rakuten, or MrRebates for cash back deals.
How To Start Saving Money With Honey

2. Download the Honey Browser Tool
Honey does have an app, but since I do all my online shopping on my laptop, I use the Honey Browser tool.
3. Place An Online Order
If Honey has a promo code for the site you are on, the browser icon will change from grey to orange. Go ahead and shop like usual at the site you are at and during checkout if Honey has a promo code for your order, it should automatically apply it for you.
However, sometimes I find that it doesn’t work automatically, especially if you have other web browser tools installed. So even if the Honey icon is grey, I click on it and press apply coupons. Other times I have pressed the promo code area on my order form and it has popped up.
4. Enjoy The Savings
As I said above, the great part about Honey is that the savings come automatically off your order, no waiting. That can really help stretch your budget.
Try This Ninja Stacking Tip To Save Even More Money
With my orders for Boxed I have been able to save even more money on my orders by stacking Honey with a cash back site. Yes, Honey does also offer cash back at various sites, but once again I don’t use this area unless it is my only option.
Instead, I first click on my favorite cash back site browser tools to see who is offering the best cash back deal. For Boxed it is usually Rakuten. I then activate the cash back from that browser tool. At the end of the order, I press Honey and add a promo code if they have one. If by touching Honey the browser tool for Rakuten has become inactive (which it usually does) I press it again once I am finished adding the promo code from Honey. This has worked for me several times, allowing me to save money with a promo code as well as through a cash back company.
I can increase my savings even more by buying items on sale and using gift cards I have earned through various point reward companies and apps for doing things I usually do already (i.e., I am not filling out surveys to earn those gift cards) to help pay for the item. That is what I call a thrifty score.
So what are you waiting for! Go here and sign up for Honey now and start saving money with just a click or two for each online order you make.
