Use It Up To The Last Drop: Butter Wrappers

I had so much fun writing 10 Ways Thrifty People Use Things Up To The Last Drop I thought that whenever I catch myself squeezing the last bit of usefulness out of an item I would share it as a a Use it Up To The Last Drop post.

Today’s use it up to the last drop edition contains a thrifty classic. One that I am sure pretty much everyone thrifty person does, but still I think it deserves a mention.

using a butter wrapper to grease a pan for bakingWhenever I use butter in baking I always use the wrapper it came in to grease the pan I will be using  that day. I don’t go as far as saving my butter wrappers from those sticks of butter used in other ways for this purpose but if I am making cookie bars and the recipe calls for butter then I will use the wrappers from that batter to grease the pan I am using.

Not only does this practice save a tiny bit of money for the wax paper and the olive oil I would have used to grease the pan, but it does reduce trash some  by reducing my use of wax paper for greasing pans and I like being green when ever I can.
