52 Weeks To A Simplified Home: Week 50 Update

I just typed a 50 in the title! That means I am truly in the final weeks of my 52 Weeks To A Simplified Home challenge.

Don’t worry though I am not done with decluttering.  I have a new declutter challenge planned for you and me. This new project is going to make me dig deep and purge at a whole new level. It will seem easy for some I am sure, but for this pile loving gal, it is going to be tough! Stay tuned I will be sharing all the details in the last week of December.

This week I attacked another re-declutter area so that our home would look its best for Christmas.

This is the dreaded study cubby off the hallway. Such a cute idea but the problem is none of our children fit it anymore so unfortunately all it does is collect clutter. I  need to think of a better purpose for it.

Usually, it is the children (all teenagers now) who clutter the area up with stuff from their room that they find while cleaning and don’t want.

However this time I did most of the damage when I bought my daughter spider webbing to use as stuffing for a pillow project, and I put it here instead of putting it in a plastic bin with a lid and storing it in the attic until she uses it.

It didn’t take me long to clean out the area. It was simply a matter of returning items to their proper homes around the house. I am thinking that I might buy a surge protector power bar for this area and make it into a family charging center.

My two youngest children already place their smartphones and tablets in here each night. It is a family rule in our home that children do not sleep with these devices in their bedrooms. So to go one step further and make it into a charging center seems a natural use of the space.
