My daughter was so impressed with my sand word “love” that she tried to protect it from the incoming tide with a sand wall.
Watching her perform such a hopeless act got me to thinking. How many of us are wandering around with useless walls around our “love”.
Walls formed by hurt, neglect, abuse. Walls we thought we formed for good purpose. For the purpose of never being hurt again.
But, what are our walls really doing, they are not keeping out hurt, there keeping out love, love from our children, love from our spouse, love from our friends.

Very cool sand art and your words in this post are so true. It’s easy to put those walls up for “protection” and than so hard to take them back down again to let anyone in.
Very sweet that she tried to save it. Maybe look at it that she wanted to keep your love forever. 🙂
Take care,
Dee

“Greater love has no man than this, that he lay down his life for his friends.” As I read your post, I thought about what love cost Jesus. Hurt, pain, fear, sacrifice. Not things I want to volunteer for.
Then I thought about what his love accomplished.
Oh, may we love as he loved!

Great word picture! We really do lose when we keep love out in an effort to protect our hearts. I’ll remember this image today. Thanks!
