My kids love having a cup of hot chocolate after playing outside on a cold winter’s day. There is just something about a mug of warm chocolatey goodness that can warm them up from head to toe from the inside out.
Here is our family’s favorite hot chocolate recipe, which takes just mere minutes and uses just three ingredients that you probably already have, milk, sugar, and cocoa powder.
Pour a cup of milk into a pan and place it on medium heat. Add in the sugar and cocoa powder and whisk the ingredients together. Heat to your preferred temperature.
This recipe makes just one serving, but you can go ahead and double it or triple it or….whatever you need to serve those in your home.
Top it with mini marshmallows, dip candy cans in it, or top it with whipping creme for something just a little more special.
Want another hot drink for a cold day with just a bit of a caffeine kick to it? Try my recipe for peppermint mocha.

This is how my mom always made her’s and how I make mine. You can’t drink a powdered mix after having this! A word of caution though, I have ruined a nonstick pot doing this (and I don’t make hot chocolate that often lol). Stick with a stainless steel pot, no pun intended 😉 p.s. a touch of vanilla and whipped cream will have you thinking you’re in Heaven!
