Need A Gift To Fit In Your Mother’s Day Card?

My mother passed away years ago, but when she was alive, she didn’t live near me for several years. We didn’t have the money in those years to pay for a florist to deliver flowers to her home nor did we have the money to send a large parcel, so I got creative with my gift giving and instead gave her gifts that fit within a card.

Gift Certificates For Mom’s Favorite Places To Eat And Shop

Some moms love gift cards and some don’t find them personal enough. You need to decide what category your mother fits into. My mom didn’t mind them as long as they were for stores or restaurants she didn’t just like, but loved!

Packets Of Wildflower Seeds For Mom’s Flower Garden

Gardening stores, farming stores and sometimes even hardware stores carry individual packets of wildflower seeds all year long that you can buy and then place inside your card so that your mom can enjoy blooms from you in her flower garden all summer long.

Give Mom A Spa Night In A Card

Give your mom a facial on you by sending her a facial mask packet that will easily fit in a card.  You can also usually find individual packets of smelly bath salts and invigorating foot soaks in the beauty aisle of most major department stores.

Give Mom The Smell Of Flowers

You might not be able to afford to have flowers delivered to your mom on Mother’s day, but you can still give her something that smells wonderful by putting a scented sachet in her card that she can then place in a draw in her dresser or hang on a hanger in her closet.

Touch Mom’s Heart With This List

A few years before my mother was diagnosed with cancer that took her from me, I wrote a list entitled “10 Reasons Why I Am Glad You Are My Mother” –and it touched her deeply. Now that she is no longer walking this earth with I am so incredibly thankful that I wrote that list while she was still here to read it. I encourage every child to do this one for their own mother.

Personalize A Mother’s Necklace

I have a Mother’s necklace from Jane.com and I love it. It has a different pearl to represent each of my children set inside an adorable wire peapod and could have easily been included in a card. Although not always available, usually at least one type of Mother’s necklace can be found in the accessory an jewelry tab over at Jane.com.
