Oatmeal Breakfast Bars

Ingredients
  

  • 1 1/2 cup apple sauce
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups white wheat flour
  • 1 cup oatmeal
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon cloves
  • 1 cup dried cranberries or raisins

Method
 

  1. preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  2. mix together applesauce and butter in a large mixing bowl ( I used my hand mixer)
  3. stir in sugar
  4. stir in lightly beaten egg
  5. stir in the remaining ingredients.
  6. press in a lightly greased 9 by 12 pan
  7. bake for 15 to 20 minutes (lightly golden brown around edges)
  8. allow it to cool and then use your pizza cutter to cut into 20 to 24 bars.
