The before and after pictures for the library were not at all dramatic clutter wise. So I decided to show you instead a few things I did in the room.
I washed down the walls and banister and railings of the stairway with Super Washing Soda. This stuff is my favorite cleaner for walls. It takes of finger prints left behind by children with ease. I purchase mine at Meijer. It is also great on tough stains.
I removed the rugs from the room and gave the floor a good sweep and a mop. I love getting down on my hands and knees to scrub a floor. I find you get off the gunk you might miss with a mop and you can get into corners better. To be nice to my knees I use an old pillow to kneel on. The spray bottle is filled with a mix of half vinegar and half water, it cleans the floor great. The rag is indeed a mop head for a mop that my husband uses when he mops the floor. He does not like getting on his hands and knees and I figure hey if he is mopping I am not going to complain about how it is done.
The table beside the couch always gets covered with clutter so I decided to take my own advice and place a basket that I had stored in the attic on top of the table to collect the clutter and when it gets too full, I will empty out its contents and sort it out.
This is my my second favorite display area of the house (my most favorite is my daughter’s Duplo character display). In it are a picture my daughter drew, a sign given to me by a friend that is so me, a candle holder given to me by my grandma and several green glass canning jars. I a few short weeks these things will be put away to make room for Christmas items.
All in all I am very happy about how clean the room now is. It is ready for its transformation into the room that contains our family Christmas tree in just a few short weeks.
