All I Want For Christmas Is An Organized Home Update: The Family Room

our family roomThis is  a common site in our family room. In fact all week I waited to get a picture of it without someone in it and well….it never happened. The family room in our home is the most lived in room of the house which means it does not say clean for long.

As I mentioned Monday in my goal post I did not get this room deep cleaned by Friday like I wanted. My husband was ill and spent 2 days last week on the couch  and I felt it rude to deep clean around him.

Earlier this week though I was able to finish the main parts that I wanted deep cleaned and am moving on to the dinning room next so that all 3 rooms that we decorate for Christmas are clean and ready for decorations Thursday.

family room tv wall I got all the finger prints off the walls and I got this floor to ceiling unit all dusted and reorganized (the toilet paper roll sitting on the mantel is now gone, I do buy tissues but apparently one box was not enough).

I would still like to give the curtains a wash and….

horribledo something about this corner. This is where I store all my finished handiwork with stuff to wrap it with to sell and give as gifts. Problem is the shelf is way too small and too open to the room. I have wanted a closed cabinet for this corner since we moved to this house over 5 years ago but it just has not made the priority list in our budget.

It really is the last does not fit and looks bad piece in our home so I am very blessed. I thought I could get something at a yard sale that would be better but have had no luck for years.  Finally I have decided to take the measurements with me to an unfinished furniture store in a neighboring city with us this weekend and price out what a cabinet would be, so I can start saving.
