attic beforeI told my husband I am so embarrassed to show you the pictures of our messy attic for the 3rd time in the almost 2 years I have been blogging. In my defense we live in an older home that has no garage, so the attic acts like one, holding all our Christmas, camping, and travel gear. It also gets very hot in our attic during the summer so people tend to just grab and go or stop and drop, which means by fall it is a huge mess.

my favorite cleaning accessoriesI spent a total of 4 podcasts cleaning the attic. I love listening to podcasts when I clean, it really helps me pass the time and makes the cleaning seem less of a chore. It is also a great way to add a bit of learning to your day. I like listening to” how to blog” podcasts but there are so many podcasts out there. No matter what you want to learn about there is probably a podcast out there to help you.

To enhance my podcast experience I love the sound my wireless  Jawbone Jambox gives my iPod. The Jambox amplifies the podcast so I can clearly hear it no matter where the iPod is sitting, even in the largest of rooms.

In the time it took to listen to 4 podcasts throughout the week I……

what I gave away..packaged up these three boxes and the bag beside it to give to the local thrift store.

what I threw away…threw away this much garbage.

what i recycled….recycled a large box full of empty boxes.

attic after blankAt the end of the week this is what my attic looked like. Yes there is still a lot of stuff in our attic, but remember older homes have little closet space and no garage, so this is where all the stuff we don’t use every day goes. There is at least a truck load of stuff I plan to sell off next spring at a yard sale or during a Craigslist  Blitz or in a Facebook selling group. My dream would be to get the smallest wing completely empty so it could be the hot weather dumping zone leaving the other two wings organized all year long.

Come back this evening to find out 20 Pinterest boards I follow to motivate me to keep on cleaning and organizing.

Did you clean and organize a room in your house this week?

Need motivation to Declutter your home? I once read Don Aslett’s Clutter’s Last Stand and by the end of the book I was so motivated to declutter that over a 48 hour period I decluttered our entire home sending a full truck load to the thrift store.

Do you need money for Christmas? Use this method to earn cash for Christmas in minutes a day.

Looks great! I also really like to listen to podcasts when I am doing something like cleaning or painting. I really like listening to Dave Ramsey. He motivates me in lots of ways!
