I have read several Beverly Lewis books over the years but The Guardian had a completely different feel to me than any of the other titles I have read by her.
That different style is responsible for me saying “this is the best Beverly Lewis title I have read to date”.
The characters in The Guardian are believable, and oh so friendly drawing the reader into their lives with ease. Their problems were real and easy to relate to.
One of the main characters Jodi is a runner, being one myself might be one reason I related to the story so well.
Grief is one of the major themes in the books. What it makes us do? How it makes us make choices we never would have made without it? How letting go of it does not mean we love our lost loved one less it just means we love them enough to continue to live the life they would have wanted us to live.
Put “The Guardian” on your summer read list and be prepared to be swept away to Hickory Hollow like you never have before.
(I was given a copy of the book for purpose of review but the opinions are 100% mine)
