How I save $24 in under 2 minutes

Recently I ordered all my children’s school books for grade 10, grade 7, and grade 5.

To save money I first purchased what books I could at a second-hand curriculum sale. I also put several items on my wish list on eBay, but every auction kept creeping up to prices that were very close to those of new books and in some cases higher.

With just a few weeks till school starts, I knew I had done what I could to keep the costs down with second-hand books and now needed to purchase the rest new online.

For new curriculum one of my favorite sites is Christianbook.com. They have a large homeschooling section that has many popular curriculum titles.

I was able to order all that we needed for the upcoming school year with the exception of my eldest son’s  My Father’s World curriculum.

After putting all that we needed into my cart on Christian Book, I then opened up another search window and typed the words “discount codes for Christianbook.com” into my Swagbucks search bar. Right away one of my favorite discount sites Retailmenot.com popped up.

On Retailmenot.com I found a code for “free shipping” which saved me over $24.

The whole search and entering in of the code took under 2 minutes!

If you are not a coupon clipper, or a price bookkeeper because of the time it takes to keep up with those systems, this is one saving money strategy that might just work for you.

The hardest part is remembering to do the search before you go through check out. Perhaps a post-it notes near the computer saying “check for discount codes” as a visual reminder might work. Then when searching for a discount code becomes second nature you can remove it from your workspace.

Retail Me Not is my favorite discount code site, but I know there are others out there. What are your favorite discount code sites?

Hi! I’m linking up from WLW. Love your suggestions for buying books! My kids are in college now, but they find lots of great deals online. And every little bit adds up, especially in college!

    Thanks for sharing your tips!
