My Favorite Reads Of 2015

(post contains affiliate links: see disclosure)

My favorites of 52+ books read in 2015!

I set out like I usually do each year to read 52 books in 2015. I ended up reading 53. You can read the entire list of books I read and a short review of each here.

Today though, I want to share my top 3 fiction and nonfiction reads of 2015. This list is in no particular order.

My Foolish Heart by Susan May Warren

I enjoyed the entire Deep Haven series by Susan May Warren as well as the Christiansen Family series, but  if I have to pick just one Susan May Warren book as my favorite, I pick My Foolish Heart simply because I identified with the characters in the book more than any other fiction book  I read in 2015.

Better All The Time by Carre Armstrong Gardner

I read most of this book Christmas day. I feel in love with the Darlings during book 1 of the Darling series. Book 2, Better All The Time,  has me loving them even more. I hope the author finishes book 3 soon!

The Rock Harbor Series by Colleen Coble

Okay, I am cheating here and picking a series of five books instead of just one. I just couldn’t split The Rock Harbor Series up and pick one, and it is my list and my rules so I am going to just list the series as a whole.

Non Fiction

Steal Like An Artist: 10 Things No One Told You About Being Creative by Austin Kleon

This book is a quick read but an inspiring one. I read Steal Like An Artist on the beaches of Jamaica while on a 20 year Anniversary trip with my husband and it was tough to just highlight all the great stuff within the pages of the book instead of getting right to work implementing all the ideas I learned. But then I would remember I was on the beaches of Jamaica and I needed to soak that in and work later!

Flash: The Homeless Donkey Who Taught Me About Life, Faith, And Second Chances by Rachel Anne Ridge

Reading Flash inspired me to take a good look at my life and start making a few changes. I honestly grabbed it on the way to the pool one day thinking it would be a simple, funny read. I had no idea that what was inside its pages was so insightful and just what my soul needed to hear.

The Best Yes: Making Wise Decisions In the Midst Of Endless Demands

In 2015 I really struggled with feelings of inadequacy in the area of blogging.

Then I read The Best Yes and I realized something: I am not inadequate I am simply human.

If you would like to find out about what I am reading this year, check out my read in 2016 list. I will update it as I read books throughout 2016.

Wednesdays this year are about fellowship. I want to give my readers glimpses into my personality, my likes and dislikes, and I also want to get to know yours which is why commenting is encouraged.

What were some of your favorite reads in 2015? Tell me about at least one of them in the comments.

A Few Great Kindle Deals

You might have noticed that I have been sharing Kindle deals lately. I can’t help it! The thrifty bookworm in me  just has to share an awesome deal on a title I either read and loved or that is on my want to read list. I have noticed through the years too that January is when there are a lot of great Kindle deals offered.

Here are a few I have found lately

(please note, Kindle deals can disappear fast make sure you read the price before you buy)

The Fringe Hours: Making Time For You : I grabbed a copy of this when it dropped to $2.99 and now it is just $1.99! This book has been on my to read list for a while so I can’t wait to dig in.

Cut Your Grocery Bills In Half With America’s Cheapest Family : This book is currently just .99 cents! Even if you just learn one new tip you are going to make back your investment and then some. I know you are going to learn more than one new tip though. This is probably the best book I have read on how to cut a grocery bill without going coupon crazy.

Money Secrets Of The Amish: Finding True Abundance In Simplicity, Sharing, & Saving : I read this book several years ago and really enjoyed the message within its pages. It is currently just .99 cents!

You Are A Writer (So Start Acting Like One): I read this book early in my blogging career and it gave me a huge boost of encouragement and self confidence. It is currently just .99 cents!

psst….My favorite way to take advantage of Kindle deals is to use Amazon gift cards earned through Swagbucks or InstaGC.

  1. I loved Flash! Everyone needs to read this book! Thanks for your list! I will be reading some of these! You enjoy this snowy day….with a good book!! Love you, Dana

    • Thanks Dana! I have a few more in my book bag I need to give to that daughter of yours to drop off at your house.

  2. I found Susan May Warren this past year and love her stuff! The other two fiction authors I’m not familiar with, so that is EXCITING news for me!! Not just one new, recommended author but TWO! Treasures waiting to be unearthed!! 🙂 And I’m going to nab that You are a Writer one — motivation is always a good thing.

  3. I loved Your Best Yes! It really gave me encouragement to evaluate how I was spending my time. Although I could probably stand to revisit those ideas these days. 😉

Thanks for the tips on the Kindle deals. I just got a Kindle for Christmas and haven’t started reading things on it yet, so I’ll give this a try.
