We were discussing normal day to day things, bills, kids, work, when I said out of the blue “the Carmel Marathon sent out an email to all finishers with a code good for 1/2 price on their next years Marathon, do you think I would be crazy to try again?”
Without a moment hesitation he looked at me and said “Why would you think that? everyone has a bad race”.
This from a man who three times now has had to beg and plead with fellow workers to get half a Saturday shift covered, so he can get up extremely early for a night owl and sit in the car and read for 4 to 5 hours while I run.
A man who gets a call at mile 20 from a very discouraged and pain filled wife, who still in her pain will not listen to his professional opinion to stop running before the injury worsens.
A man who walks to meet me at mile 24 with a blanket in hand, and starts walking the last 2.2 miles beside me yelling constant words of encouragement.
A man who at the finish line, lets me lean on him till we get to the car.
Yet 48 hours later he is willing to do it all over again with me.
Yep I have said it before and I will say it again, I am blessed, to have married such a man.
Thank you Lord for Jack’s encouraging love and may I encourage him just as much in his endeavors. I pray for many more years of crazy adventures together.
